The Zoo and the Like

Super Asher!! This has nothing to do with our trip to the zoo but Asher fits quite nicely into his father's childhood Superman T-shirt.
Last weekend we went to a birthday party at the Lincoln Park Zoo. This was the posse that we looked at animals with.
And these were the birthday boys. It's funny how they both thoroughly enjoyed the cupcakes but in completely different ways. The one on the right (Malachi) sped through his in huge bites and was looking for more. The one on the left (Lincoln) was a lot more tentative and savored his a lot more. Aren't they adorable boys?!!
Addilyn and her friend, Hannah, playing in fake dirt...only in the city.
Asher and Jayna.
The older ones enjoying their cupcakes.
I'm not sure what this monument was for (other than obviously "Schiller") but the kids seemed to really enjoy marching around it.

Here's a more recent video of Asher walking. He's getting better and better (and quicker). You'll notice a couple of Asherisms throughout the video: pulling all of the children's books off the shelf is one of his favorite activities (he does it to varying degrees pretty much any chance he gets) and going to play with himself in the mirror in the hallway is another favorite. Enjoy!

A Park and Such

Aside from the birthday, we haven't had a whole lot going on in the past few weeks. Tyler has been at the library a lot working feverishly on a paper that he has finally finished and turned in today. Hooray!!
Here are some of the highlights that we caught on camera.

This is precisely how it looks. Addilyn is eating cream cheese straight from the container using her fingers. All I thought from this is, "At least she's trying something new."

Hanging out and enjoying some bookwork.

Asher, much like his father, enjoys climbing. On this particular night he was delighted by the "playground" of laundry baskets we brought out for him to climb on.

A couple of weeks ago, I had some issues with my back and found out that it's kind of difficult to find a chiropractor that will work on you when you're pregnant (at least around here). We end up having to make a trip downtown to a chiropractor that specializes in maternity care. Seeing as it was beautiful outside, we decided to make a family trip of it and take the train into the Loop.
Here's Addilyn hanging from a tree in Millenium Park.

Asher completely zonked as we strolled the park.

Addilyn mooching some drink from us. Stinker.

Walking up high (with the help of Daddy).
The end.

Asher Eating

Today Asher did something he has never done before.

Not only did he eat a whole jar of baby food.
(Sure it was the Stage 1 jar meant for ages 4 months and up).

He also enjoyed the experience!

Easter

Yesterday was Easter. We didn't get to do any of the exciting things we would have liked (mostly hang out with family) but we were able to make due with what we had. Earlier in the week Addilyn and I dyed some Easter eggs at the seminary potluck. I certainly enjoyed it and Addilyn seemed somewhat interested especially when she saw the "special" crayon she could use to draw on the eggs. The most interesting part to me was that the pink and purple egg came from first dying the egg green and then dunking it in blue. Weird.

This was Addilyn's Easter dress. Lots of ruffles and frills. So cute.

Just to balance out the girliness she decided to finish the ensemble like this (she did wear her sandals to church). Awesome.

Since we didn't get to enjoy the big family meal and get together, we went for the next best thing and grilled us up some steaks. It was even more fun because a thunderstorm rolled through just as we were getting the grill ready. Steak and a storm...can life get better? I submit that it cannot.

Birthday Boy

Today Asherman turned 1 year old. He was pretty excited about it.

The best family picture from the day.

Addilyn was looking super-cute in her new outfit too. "Cheese!"

Time for Asher to try the gluten-free, vegan chocolate cupcake we made for his birthday celebration.

I think he liked it. Addilyn liked her's too. (Tyler and I haven't tried any yet but we plan to tomorrow night so we'll let you know how that turns out.)

Happy Birthday, Cutie Boy!!
