Father's Day

For Father's Day we got together with the entire Johnson clan and headed to Wichita to celebrate the 3 fathers in our midst. Here is a chronicle of our evening.
We ate at Jimmie's Diner (which Addilyn kept calling Robin's but no one knows why). Tyler tried to use the timer to get a more complete shot of the group but as you can tell, the waiter walked in, in the middle of it.

After dinner we headed to Old Town so the kids could run through the fountain/sprinkler park.

The Haircut

On Fathers' Day, Tyler decided to cut Asher's hair. He's been wanting to do it for quite some time but I've been fighting it. Look how cute he is in his long hair! But since it was Fathers' Day (and the kids and I hadn't gotten him a gift) I thought we could try it out and see how it goes.

Tyler humored me and used the longest attachment he could find. Unfortunately, the longest attachment was still really short. Look how much hair he cut off! At this point I tried not to faint (or cry).

Addilyn watched intently throughout. I think she was glad we hadn't tried to do this to her.

And the finished product. It ended up looking pretty cute when he was finished. And a whole lot cooler. I guess this kid is cute no matter what we do to him.

Splashing Around in the Yard

It's hot. Really, really hot. So Saturday night, Tyler and I decided it was time for us to get on our swimsuits and go get wet. We didn't really want to go all the way to the pool (and have to pay to get in) so we scrounged up some water toys (or at least things that look vaguely like water toys) and headed out in the yard. These are the pictures from said adventure.

Asher played almost exclusively with the bucket and the two little dishes in it. Here Addilyn is trying to show him how he could use them as water weapons.

She did that to him quite a bit. I think it was mostly because he's such a good height to be the perfect target for her. It may also have to do with some latent aggression she needed to get out but I'm not sure about that. Luckily, he didn't seem to mind all that much.

Then she tried to attack Daddy. So brave and foolish.

She may have gotten the worst of it in this dual.

New Tooth

A pictureless post about a new tooth. Asher's lower right molar has finally broken through and since I'm miles upon miles away from his baby book, I had to think of another way to record the date so I wouldn't forget until I can get back to it. Yay for a multipurpose blog!

Antics

I don't know if we've mentioned Asher fascination with shoes as of late. He loves them! He especially likes to check out everyone elses shoes. From the front...from the back...from above...from floor level; he insists on getting the full picture. He also loves to bring you shoes to try on. And of course try on shoes for himself as well. Here he's setting the shoe on the top of his foot and willing it to go on.

Tractor

Grandpa & Grandma B got out the peddle tractor while we were there for Addilyn to try out.

She's gotten pretty good with her tricycle but the steering wheel on the tractor was a little confusing. She went off road a few more times than I think she would have liked.The peddles were almost too far away for Addilyn's legs but she persevered and figured them out.

Success!

He really enjoyed sitting on the tractor but much preferred it to be moving. Addilyn was super sweet to oblige him. Such a good big sister.
