Busy Week

So the last week or so has been a busy one for the Johnson family. Well the Tyler, Erin & Addilyn Johnson family...from Manhattan....KS....
......living in the Floersch's basement. Yeah that one. We left last Thursday for KC for interview #1 and went to my parents in El Dorado from there. Sunday we came home to Manhattan just to leave the next day to surprise Erin's parents up in Kearney. Got back Tuesday evening and had to be in KC the next morning at 9. Wednesday morning comes and on the way out of town we find out that Java doesn't open until 7. So I had to drive Mocha-less until Topeka where we stopped at a Starbucks and got a typically sub-par drink. While I was inside ordering Addilyn decided her outfit was too cute to wear so she royally soiled it. Once we were on the road again we did well till we got to KC. Actually the whole interview/job offer time went well. Afterwards we tried to find the Caribou Coffee shop promised by the internet but to no avail. So I called Courtney who was also no avail. So we ate at Wendy's and fed Addilyn and then called my mother who was a great avail. So we found the Caribou Coffee and drove up with the intention of using their free WiFi and our laptop to investigate apartments. Unfortunately my mind had been a little murky that morning and I didn't bring the laptop. So we found an apartment the old fashioned way and signed our lives away on a lease that seems ridiculously pricey but is par for the area. Then we drove to Caribou Coffee again and got some cold caffeinated libations and headed home where we had a small group dinner and realized the consequences of the days actions. Then we went to sleep and I slept for like 6 hours straight, right through at least one feeding, for the first time in about three weeks.

Oh yeah, Guess what

On the way home from KC today guess what we saw. That's right the brand new Audi R8 as seen to the right. The colors were reversed, gray on black, it was pretty sweet.

At longer last.....At long laster....Whatever

I have a job! Today I was hired as a Project Engineer with Siggins Company in North Kansas City. We leased an apartment and are moving this weekend. Yippee.

At long last

Sorry for the lack in recent posts. We've been busy. Well not really but whatever. Last Thursday I had an interview in KC which went well. From there we went down to my parents in El Dorado. Here is a picture of the drive. Note the amazing Kansas Scenery, the sweet punching bag hanging from the rear-view, and Addilyn in the fore-mirror seen in the rear-view.

After the drive we arrived in El Dorado and Addilyn got to see her whole Johnson side for the first time. She also tested her Pack and Play and found it to be sufficiently comfortable. During this time she also turned over two weeks.

During our short stead at my parents I decided to change the oil in our car. Addilyn naturally wanted to help so I let her. She was very good at not spilling any oil. She also noticed a nearly worn through belt and found evidence of a bad EGR valve. Quite the daughter we have.

After the oil change Addilyn took a trip to the mall, took bath number three in a sink. She napped, cried, pooped and even sucked on my nose a little. Check out our web album for more pictures.

Bath 2.0

This morning after a walk Addilyn took her second bath and this time we got pictures. The bath went fine for the first little while. She seemed to enjoy it. But after enough poking and prodding by her dad she decided it wasn't so fun anymore so she got upset. She's clean and happy now though and being fed so her life is really pretty good.

Oh, what a night.

Last night I found myself walking to the crib to lay Addilyn down after a feeding. The clock by the bed read 1:45, being able to read it should have seemed odd but didn't. See, Erin typically feeds her in a big chair near her crib. For some reason this time we had been feeding her in the bed and I was awoken from my semi-slumber by Erin with instructions to put her in her crib. I vividly remember walking through the hall with a wrapped bundle in my arms. The memory continues as I approach the crib and to my intense confusion see Addilyn sleeping there. At this point I find that there is actually nothing in my arms. This realization brings me to full lucidity where I conclude that I had been sleepwalking. Sheepishly I return to bed and try to dodge questions from Erin about my recent activities.

ONE WEEK

A week old already. Wowsers. Addilyn slept quite well last night. We were very happy. Naturally she woke up an hour after we put her down but then only one more time 3 or so hours later. Then we woke up at 8:30 and she was sleeping. Good night indeed. So here is Addilyn with a giant duck somebody stuck us with at a white elephant party. I'm pretty sure I'm going to hollow out the duck and put her in it for Halloween.
Weird fact. Like the Mona Lisa this duck (Aptly named Howard) stares at you no matter where you are in the room.

The first bath of Addilyn

Addilyn got her first bath this evening. She wasn't too excited about it. Our plan was to document this momentous occasion but Erin had just showered and the room was all steamy so the lens fogged up. But we did take a before and this after photo.

And the Wait is Over

So Friday morning at about 1:00am Erin awakes with contractions. Half an hour later she wakes me and we time and pace and watch a DVD and such til about 3:00am when we head to the hospital. Once we get there the contractions lessen and we chill. At 7:30am Erin is induced and an hour later labor starts getting rough. Come 10:40am we have a baby girl. She weighs 8lb 9oz and is 21 inches long. We name her Addilyn Elise. More pictures are available at our web album found here. http://picasaweb.google.com/TylerinJ/AddilynElise
