A Long December

Hi Everybody,
How are you? It's been quite a while since we've spoken and I am finding out that my typing skills have suffered over the break. Well, much has happened in the last fortnight or so. Last Monday Daddy started his new job as a Research and Development Engineer for Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing in Maryville, MO. We haven't fully moved yet so it's been a little weird. Last Sunday night we all headed off to Maryville with a pack-n'-play, air mattress and some dishes. Daddy worked Monday and then we all drove back down to the city. Tuesday morning Daddy must have left really early cause he had to be at work at 7 in the morning . Shortly after I woke up Grandma Cheryl came and helped Mommy pack up the kitchen. She stayed the night and it was all kinds of fun. Gotta have that girl time ya know.

Wednesday Grandma drove Mommy and I up to Maryville where we unpacked a little and waited for Daddy to get home. He gets off work at 3:30 these days which gives us much more time together. Grandma left before Daddy got home and later informed us that it is a 3 1/2 hour drive to their place and 242 miles, she likes to know those sorts of things. Anyahow, we don't have internet, cable, furniture, TV or other such luxuries at the Maryville place so we are in KC this weekend packing up the remainder of our junk. Next weekend is the big move, we could use your help if you're available. Let us know by phone if you're available since we don't have internet. Here is the number in case you don't have it. Although if you're reading this, you probably have it. (785) 341-2943

So anyways life is good. Here is a web album showing pictures of our new place. And coming soon Mommy wants to post a scaled plan view of the new apartment and our furniture so that you can give us your opinions on the layout.

And now a little on the photos you've just seen.

First I show off a cute green dress from Lisa Habluetzel. Check out that booty!

Next I'm sporting a sassy little number courtesy of Courtney; I also reveal my true feelings for the giant duck.

Thirdly, you can see me enjoying a couple of new toys from the G-Pa's. (That's Grandparent's for those of you who are, you know, Grandparent's)

Finally I'm wearing a lovely little outfit from G-Ma-J which is a little small and this will likely be the last time I wear it. So it was well documented, much to my dismay, as you can see.

Well I must go and get some packing done. Mom and Dad say I can't bring anything I don't pack myself; seems harsh but as my Grandmother says "Life's a bummer, then you die"

Swankocity Regained, Kinda

So Tyler, Addilyn and I went to Maryville today to look for a new apartment. I went last Friday with my parents to look and found a few leads for us, but today we went with a mission. We were going to look at an apartment that was recommended to us from one of the competing realtors. And we did. It was nice. It was bigger than the duplex that we had found on Friday but it was on the second floor which was a big strike against it for me. Anyway, we ended up calling one of the numbers on our list that we hadn't gotten to yet and found another available apartment. That was quite a feat considering almost everything is taken since the college students start back this month. Anyway, we got a hold of the owner of this available apartment and he said to come on over to look at it. When we got over there we discovered that he was in the middle of installing new flooring (hardwood laminate). Other than a little bit of mess from the changes he was doing, the place was pretty clean with a fresh coat of paint on the walls. While it is older, you can definitely tell it has been taken care of for the most part which was surprising considering it was just a few blocks from the college campus. It's got a few quirks like a square bath tub, saloon doors to the master bathroom and a walk in pantry in the kitchen. The most striking things is the amount of open space. This place is huge!! It's the entire main floor of a house and the bedrooms are very large, much larger than the rooms we've got in our current apartment. We are even going to be able to use one bay of the two car garage which we're pretty excited about as well.
Anyway, we thought we'd give you an update. Now the only thing we have to worry about is actually moving. If any of you are willing to help with that, let us know. We're pretty much open to moving any weekend between now and September 31 since that's when we have to be out of the KC apartment; it just depends on when we'll have help. As always we are not above bribing with food and you'll be able to boast that you've seen our new place and the super cool town of Maryville, MO which is very important, right?

Chunky Monkey

Today I went to the doctor's. Because of the trauma last time I was aware of the situation and thus, I steeled myself. Three shots in my legs. Though I knew what was coming I didn't like it. I squalled, and soon fell asleep. When I got home I slept some more and then we went to pick up Daddy for lunch. Lunch was good and shortly after Daddy left, Grandma and Grandpa Butts came and we hung out a lot. Anywho here are the vitals: I weighed in at 19lb, 2 oz and 26 1/4 inches long. Both of those put me in the 95th percentile or higher. Whoa, I'm one big baby.

Holy Buckets!!

Wow. I can't believe it's already August. That means that summer is almost over and we are getting really close to school starting and football season.

Anyway, I thought it was time for an update (the post about Tyler's disease was really old and to be quite honest, pretty depressing). Last weekend Tyler's sisters, brother-in-law, and nephew all came to KC. The original plan was to have a movie night and go to Worlds/Oceans of Fun. Oddly enough we didn't do either but we still managed to have quite a bit of fun. Other than setting Oliver and Addilyn down for a good, old-fashioned faceoff (as seen in the picture on the right), we found lots of exciting things to do. We wandered through the Legends mall, Nebraska Furniture Mart and the Plaza. We ate at Buca Di Beppo (which is this excellent Italian restaurant on the Plaza; I would really recommend it) and our staple of Chipotle. We also went and played at Dave & Busters which is kind of like Chuckie Cheese for adults with lots of arcade games and our personal favorite, skee ball. There were tons of adventures throughout the weekend, including the men spending a couple of hours working on Joel & Kendall's car in a parking garage when it broke down on the way to the Plaza (don't worry, those mechanical wizards got it fixed!) and Addilyn falling asleep during a long disc golf game on Saturday morning. All around, it was a weekend full of fun and family. Tyler's parents even got in on the action when they made our place their first stop on their trip to Canada.

Other than that, there's not too much going on in our world. Addilyn has another doctor's appointment tomorrow. While I'm not looking forward to the shots she has to get, am I looking forward to seeing how much weight she's gained in the last two months. You wouldn't believe how often I get asked about that and it will be nice to finally have an accurate number to give.

Tyler is working overtime this week which means 10 hour days for him and lot more twiddling our thumbs for Addilyn and me. Luckily, he was able to go practice Tae Kwon Do last night, so I think that makes the week at little better for him.

We are currently looking for a place to live in Maryville and have set up times to look at a few places on Friday. While we are still kind of sad to leave our beautiful apartment, it's nice to think that we might be able to rent an entire house or at least a duplex for a little more than half what we are paying now. Tyler is set to start there next Wednesday so things are moving pretty quickly now. We still aren't sure when we'll be officially moving but will hopefully get that figured out as soon as we find a place in Maryville.
My parents are coming to visit this Thursday and will be here through the rest of the weekend. I'm not real sure what we'll do yet (other than look at houses in Maryville on Friday), but I'm sure some of it will involve eating some excellent Kansas City barbeque. Can you believe that we haven't had any of the legendary Kansas City barbeque the entire time we've lived here? I know, it's sad.

Yep, well that's about it. Until next time then.
